Permanent Exhibitions
The Kitimat Museum & Archives features permanent displays of Haisla art, the creation of the town, turn of the century settlement, as well as flora and fauna of the Kitimat Valley.
Temporary visual art and photography exhibitions are featuring in the Upstairs Gallery of the Kitimat Museum & Archives. Each show lasts several weeks and the Museum will periodically host traveling exhibitions. The Upstairs Gallery is open-year round for viewing.
Book a guided tour while you're visiting Kitimat, or a book a tour for your school class. Tours are offered as a free service to the community and visitors- donations are greatly appreciated if possible. Book in advance by emailing info@kitimatmuseum.ca or calling 250-632-8950
The Museum has a variety of programming and resources for teachers. Museum instructors and volunteers provide educational Museum programs to schools and students in the community.
- Museum in the Classroom (MITC) art workshops build on art concepts learned from previous classes and years
- Museum Explorers programs offer curriculum‐based learning experiences through the use of artifacts and activities.
The Museum offers kids programs twice a year, at spring break and during summer.
Typically, morning programs for ages 3 to 5 run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and in the afternoon for ages 6 to 9 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Each program is $7.00 ($5.95 with a current family membership). Sign up at the front desk of the Kitimat Museum.

With staff assistance, visitors can access the Museum's collection of photographs and textual records in the Archives, access the artifact collections, and browse through the reference library.
Museum staff also assist with research requests, photograph digital scans, audio-visual copying, and Upstairs Gallery bookings for exhibitions and events that enhance Museum interests.
The Kitimat Public Library has the Kitimat newspapers digitized and accessible to the public, on their website - this is a great free resource for anyone to use.

The closest parking access to the Museum is in the lower City Centre Mall parking lot.

Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday: Noon to 4 p.m.
Closed Sundays and statutory holidays
During the month of December, for the Artisan Christmas Gift Store the closing hour is extended to 5 p.m.
June to August
Open Monday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
