Join Robin Rowland, author, photographer and writer, at the Kitimat Museum & Archives in the Upstairs Gallery for a Photographer’s Talk. Robin will be speaking about his documented eight-year photography project, “The Scream of the Forest – a Symbol of Environmental Catastrophe”. Light refreshments will be served.

“In the spring of 2011, I noticed a knot on an old stump that bore a remarkable resemblance to Edvard Munch’s famous painting collectively known as ‘The Scream.”

For the past eight years, I photographed the old knot in all four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall and in all weather conditions, rain, snow, mist, and summer sun until it was destroyed in the spring of 2019. As the world hurtles toward climate catastrophe, species extinction and destruction of biodiversity, the trees and plants have no voice in the polarized political debates—but make no mistake the forest IS screaming.”

Robin Rowland is an author, writer and photographer, based in his hometown of Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. He has worked as a writer, reporter, producer and photojournalist for Canadian and international news organizations. He is the author of five previous books and a number of short stories.
