An Art Workshop Assistant is needed by the Kitimat Museum & Archives to assist the Art Instructor deliver Museum in the Classroom Art Workshops in local schools as well as the homeschool community. Working with the Instructor, the Assistant will be responsible for preparing supplies for the workshops.  Preparation will include cutting paper, prepping paint, and organizing pastels at the Museum then transporting the supplies to the schools.  The Assistant will set up the supplies on the student’s desks and clean up after each workshop.  During the workshop the Assistant will work with the Instructor to encourage students, re-stating the instructions given and providing more supplies as needed. Full inventory of supplies must be done before the workshops start, and when they end. Time to prepare/assess supplies is billable and a flat fee for mileage is provided.  Hourly wages and benefits are paid through the District of Kitimat payroll.

Responsibilities

The Assistant will

  • prepare, organize and transport supplies to local schools
  • assist instructor with art creation
  • set up and clean up
  • inventory supplies, informing administration to replenish as needed.

This is a Part-time position dependent on classroom bookings, $21 hourly.  In 2022, 82 bookings plus prep time occurred.
