Haisla Artists Call for Entry!

Indigenous art is not stagnant or homogenous, but diverse, dynamic, and always relevant. The artistic tradition of the Haisla has existed for millennia and remains integral to the culture. As an institution founded on unceded Haisla land, the Kitimat Museum & Archives would like to acknowledge this ongoing legacy by hosting a Haisla art show from May 8th until July 13th, 2024.

Artists are invited to submit original 2D or 3D pieces which reflect their Haisla identity. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to participate. Pieces may be of any medium (ex. painting, woodcarving, textiles, beading, weaving, glass/metalworking, ceramic, multimedia) and can be old works or new ones made for this show.

Important Dates

  • The deadline for entries is Friday, February 16th,
  • Artwork must be at the Museum  by Wednesday, May 1st for
  • Exhibition Dates: Wednesday, May 8th to Saturday, July 13th, 2024.
  • Opening reception: TBD in the Upstairs Gallery of the Museum.
