The Kitimat Museum & Archives has a collection of audiotaped interviews and 8 and 16mm film. Most have been copied from the originals in cassette tape and VHS form for listening and viewing.
Audio interviews with those involved with Kitimat Project construction and women from the local Portuguese community are in digital form. Two interviews with Haisla elders have now been digitized. These interviews are available for personal use. Copies on CD in .mp3 form can be purchased for $10 per CD.
Alcan films are not available for reproduction. The Museum holdings do however, have some home movies of Kitimat and Kitamaat activities. However, only one movie is digitized - the Kitimat-Terrace CN Railway line construction.
Please note, due to the age of the audiotape and film holdings, cassette tape and VHS copies will not be done. If a copy is required, the cost of digitization will be added to the CD cost. The digitization for addition to the holdings of the Kitimat Archives will be at the expense of the customer. A digital copy of the interview or film will be provided to the customer.
