Guided Tours – Consider bringing your class for a visit to your community museum! Museum staff will provide a guided tour for your class on settlers, first nations studies, geology and fossils, and/or town history.
Museum Explorer programs –
Museum volunteers and staff can deliver Museum Explorer programming to your class at the Museum or in your classroom, April through June. Yes, the Museum will bring the resource – a 1.5 hour workshop – to your classroom. The following programs are now available:
Boys & Girls of the Kitimat Valley
Self-guided kits - Fossils and Haisla basketry are also available in self-contained kits on a loan basis to the classroom teacher. Coming soon are programs on Haisla Nation culture, town history and multiculturalism, and Ancient Valley that explores fossils and geological events of the region.
Museum in the Classroom Art Workshops - Classes on perspective, still life, landscape and portraiture in water colour and pastel are delivered by Kitimat artist Eileen Hutson, January to March. Teachers can book more than one session, building on concepts learned from previous classes and years. Random selection of artwork takes place throughout the delivery time culminating in an exhibition at City Centre Mall in April. Home schooled students also participate in classes held by Eileen at the Museum.
