Come explore at the Museum and take part in some interesting and fun programs offered at different times of the year. Our annual children’s programming includes:
Multicultural programs for ages 5 to 9 run during the Coast Mountain School District spring break. Led by local artist Summer Breeze-Kent, crafts have included Polynesian kites, Russian Fabergé eggs Turkish bird houses, and Inuit igloos. Stay tuned for program advertising at the beginning of March!
Summer of Adventure – six weeks of summer programming for ages 3 to 9 run by the Museum’s summer students (July 11 - August 19, 2011). The summer brochure is now available.
Participants make international food in Cultural Cravings, combine Mentos and Coke for Mad Scientist, and make a fossil from coffee-based putty in Diggin’ for Dinos. Local experts are included in many of the programs. Participants learn from these guests how to paint with flare and imagination, how to recognize the sound of a steller’s jay, and learn what looks like gold but isn’t—fool’s gold!
Field trips are very popular and include a trip to the Giant Spruce, Hospital Beach, Fire Hall, Fish Hatchery, and RCMP, plus around town!
